MED FRIGO’s significant contribution to the successful completion of the e-CMR pilot application in Greece.
On July 17, the results of the e-CMR pilot application in Greece in the framework of the European data exchange platform for Logistics AEOLIX (Living Lab 12) were presented. The ceremony was co-organized by the Ministry of Infrastructure & Transport and OFAE and was it was held with the support of the Operations Center at the Athens Royal Olympic Hotel.
The inaugural addresses were delivered by the General Director of Strategic Transport Planning and Road Safety of the Ministry of Infrastructure & Transport, Dimitris Papagiannidis, the General Director of Transport of the Ministry of Infrastructure & Transport Andreas Polakis, and the President of OFAE, Apostolos Kenanidis. After them, Mrs. Aspasia Gourvelou, Director of the Road Freight Transport and the Director of the Hellenic Institute of Transport (HIT) of the Center for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH), Dr. Georgia Aifantopoulou took the floor in the presence of Theodoros Zotos, Project Manager of IRU Projects, International Road Transport Union, who had the overall coordination of the project.
MED FRIGO, as a modern Greek company of International Transport and Logistics, recognizing the important contribution of new technologies and the key role they will play in the future in offering innovative, upgraded, more environmentally friendly services, gladly accepted the invitation of NESTLE HELLAS to participate in the program, applying the pilot process to loadings from its production plant in SEVARES, Spain. The success of its participation is even greater. Having a large volume of exports to Europe related to the strategic fish farming sector, MED FRIGO took the initiative to evaluate exports from Greece to Spain. MED FRIGO cooperated with OLANO Seafood Iberica, a member of the SeaFoodWays network, and MERCADONA, a supermarket group, whereas the products were transported from Galaxidi and Patras. The process was tested with full as well as partial (multiple e-CMR per loading) loads.
For the completion of the project, 42 drivers were trained, all vehicles were equipped with the necessary equipment, while continuous 24-hour support was provided. The full results of the project were presented during the event by Costas Kiapekos and Michalis Lykourgias, Logistics Manager and Inbound Operation Manager, respectively.
We warmly thank both Sotiria Maragaki, Transport Specialist NESTLE HELLAS, for the invitation to participate in the pilot program, and Iro Doumani, General Manager of OFAE, for the excellent coordination and support provided throughout.
